Samsung Is Going To Be More Aggressive With Apple

According to BusinessWeek report, Samsung has stated that it will be “more aggressive” in its patent war against Apple.

Samsung and Apple has a work relationship as Samsung is producing several components for Apple iDevices. But the war between the two companies began when Apple started suing Samsung claiming that Samsung is copying the design of the iPhone and iPad.

For a while now Samsung has been quiet about this war but recently a Korea Times report has stated that Samsung is planning to ban the sale of the iPhone 5 in Korea because it’s Violates some of Samsung patents.

Here is some of what Lee Younghee said at an interview in her office at Samsung’s headquarters building in southern Seoul.

“We’ve been quite respectful and also passive in a way” as they were considering of the Apple-Samsung links, “However, we shouldn’t be … anymore.”

Lee said that Samsung holds numerous patents covering wireless telecommunications technology. Samsung says such patents cover key functions including allowing a mobile phone user to speak on the phone and receive an e-mail at the same time.

Lee also said  “We believe Apple is free riding” on Samsung patents and the will be “pursuing our rights for this in a more aggressive way from now on.”

How can iphone’s Earbuds be used as a Camera Trigger?

A new trick is now available for iPhone photographers, will enable them to take shots from the volume button and nobody can realize while taking the photo. Try it before anybody knows it.

Macworld shows us a cool trick for iPhone photographers, that will enable them to take steadier shots beyond using the volume button on their iPhone. The new trick simply lets you plug in your iPhone’s Remote Earbuds, open the camera app, and then use the volume button on the headphones as a trigger. This is perfect for steadier shots or taking a better front-facing shot. Interestingly, this trick can even be used with a Bluetooth device, as a sort of wireless remote.

Redsn0w 0.9.6rc12 iOS 4.3.1 Untethered Jailbreak Released , Boot Animation Issue Fixes

A few minutes ago the iPhone dev-team has just released Redsn0w 0.9.6rc12 to jailbreak iOS 4.3.1 on all devices except iPad 2. But Redsn0w 0.9.6rc12 released to fix any lingering issues with the boot animation.

What’s new in Redsn0w 0.9.6rc12:

Those running redsn0w may have noticed we enabled too many Settings options in some versions of the jailbreak (for instance, what you want your side switch to do, even if you have no side switch because you’re not using an iPad). Release rc10 rc12 of redsn0w corrects that (you can just run it over your existing jailbreak…be sure to de-select Cydia to avoid package conflicts).

Along the way, we’ve also added the option to enable boot animations…these animations can be installed via Cydia, but be sure to select which animation to use via the Settings->Bootlogo setting after you’ve downloaded an animation (and again, you can just run rc10 rc12 over your existing jailbreak…be sure to de-select Cydia to avoid package conflicts).

(The boot animation we tested against was “Android Boot Logo”. It correctly installs all the dependencies needed to run the animation at each boot).

Follow our previous guide posted here to use Redsn0w 0.9.6rc12 to jailbreak iOS 4.3.1 on your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad for Windows and Mac.

Note: for who rely on ultrasn0w unlock please stay away from Redsn0w and iOS 4.3.1 until the dev-team fix the ultrasn0w on iOS 4.3.1.

More Evidence : iPhone 5 to Support 8-megapixel Camera from Sony

According to Sony‘s CEO, Sir Howard Stringer which was in an interview with Walt Mossberg that the shipments of camera sensors to Apple have been delayed due to Japan’s earthquake last month.

As you know that OmniVision is known as the supplier of image sensors for all Apple’s mobile products so far, so this is strange to hear that Sony will be a camera supplier for Apple.

Stringer just said that their camera image sensor facility in Sendai was affected by the tsunami. Getting image sensors to Apple will be delayed.

Stringer‘s discussion of camera production for Apple was confirmed by The Wall Street Journal:

Early on, he raised the irony of Sony supplying camera components for Apple devices. It “always puzzles me,” he said. “Why would I make Apple the best camera?”

It is unclear what devices he was talking about as Sony isn’t known to supply key camera components, known as image sensors, to Apple; A Sony spokeswoman declined to comment and an Apple spokesperson couldn’t be reached for comment.

In light of this, the assumptions are that the cameras will be for an unreleased Apple mobile device which may in early production stages. That assumption draws renewed attention to the Street report in April 2010 that the iPhone 5 would pack an 8-megapixel camera from Sony. The same report also predicted a 5-megapixel sensor for iPhone 4. So that we can say that Stringer‘s comment is evidence that iPhone 5 will have an 8-megapixel camera.

Apple’s A5 processor could pave way for larger chip trend

Despite the similar features, the processor used on Apple’s iPad 2 A5 and presumably also will be mounted on the upcoming iPhone, is larger than its alter ego Nvidia Tegra 2, and even more powerful. According to analysts, the trend for the coming years will be to achieve chip bigger and faster

A5 The chip has a size of 122 mm square, 49mm square against the Tegra 2. This difference raises a lot of curiosity so high because the two processors are very similar: it is dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 CPU, GPU, high-end HD video and high-end audio and images.

One difference is that the processor Apple uses the 45-nanometer process, while the 40-nanometer processor Nvidia: the latter is more powerful but also smaller than the first. But as analysts note, the main difference is that the A5 processor uses the PowerVR GPU Power SGX543 dual-core, while the second calls its Nvidia GeForce GPU. The first provides a significant increase in graphics quality, better than the Nvidia chip.

For analysts, the motivation is clear: Nvidia has made a great chip for a mobile operating system, a little ‘less for playing games, but all designed primarily to maintain low production costs.
